I know it's better to order from Jan, but I want to have more "DIY" feeling. Have anyone tried to build one? Is it difficult to build based on the circuit diagram on Jan's homepage?

It shouldn't be too difficult but watch your topology because the 6171s will go nuts unless your board layout is good. Use a star ground and follow good high-speed techniques.
