Before I take the plunge, I am wondering if there are any headphones that are compatible with the Stax driver units outside of the Stax line, and if so, name them for me please so I can scope them out

I don't think anything other than Stax is directly compatible with the amplifier, however, there are people that will make adapters for the Sennheiser HE60 and HE90 electrostats, as well as Koss ESP series electrostatics. I'm not sure about vintage electrostats, I know next to nothing about them.

Good luck finding any of these other phones, though. Other than the ESP-950, I'm not aware of any non-Stax electrostatic headphone currently in production.

The Stax headphones on the other hand are compatible with some custom made amp though. eg. KGSS.
But unfortunately my wallet is not compatible with the KGSS.
