Wow. Coincidence. I have some of those sitting only FEET away from me.

They're the Mirage MBS. They're bi-polar (meaning they have drivers on both sides) and used to be the surrounds in my parents old HT set-up.

I used them as mains for a little while. They're "polite" sounding, a bit airy, and have a very spacious sound stage, but only go down to about 100Hz.

You know, you said they were 12" tall? They are probably the MBS-2 then. Those have two 5.5" woofers (MBS has two 4.5" ones), and a response down to 60 Hz. See the brochure

$100 would be a good price for those.
