Hi all,

Just wanted to ask all the Edifier s730 users out there if their s730 subwoofer smell very bad out of the box. I have been using it for 2 weeks now and there is still a very weird smell (not burning or overheating smell). It smells more like chemical . It seems like the more i listen to music to, the stronger the smell gets. If all the s730 users have the same problem, would the smell go away completely after longer usage time???/ Thanks !

Please describe you exact setup in more detail going from your source to the sub.

It could be a host of things some of them serious and some of them not so.

My initial guess is it is the power going to the voice coil causing too much heat to build up on the voice coil.  If this is the case you need to turn the gain down as you are driving the coil(s) too hard.

I bet this only occurs when you have the bass / volume up?

yes, the smell gets a lot more noticeable when bass/ volume up. anways, went to the store today to return it and picked up a set of audio engine a5 instead.
