Any difference between HD580 and HD650 stock cables?

[I posted this topic in the cables forum, but I think I'll get better responses here]

I recently placed an order for the HD580 from Amazon, but wanted to keep an extra cable just in case I ever screwed up the original one--especially since they're so cheap. Just wondering if I should order the HD580 cable or just go for the HD650. No need to recommend a Cardas/Equinox/Zu, because it's just not gonna happen.

Thanks

I was wondering the same thing, my 580's should arrive any day now.

Is there any point in upgrading the stock 580 cable to the 650 cable if my amp has a mini jack? Does using a 650 cable and 1/4" -> mini adapter defeat the purpose of the upgraded cable?

Zorander, what are the benefits of the 650 cable that outweigh the airiness of the 580 cable? (Not including the build quality)

I too find the HD650 cable to sound fuller and more detailed than the stock HD580/600 cable which is why I use it on my HD600s. The sound of the HD580/600 stock cable is a little more airy, though, and produces a sound that's slightly "quicker on it's feet." Strange how I prefer the HD600 over the HD650 but like the HD650 stock cable more than the HD580/600 stock cable.

The HD650 cable is also much more durable and better looking.

Here is my personal finding. To me, the HD-650 is clearly a better signal conductor. The airiness of the HD-580 cable is probably an effect of its own shortcomings, albeit a rather positive-sounding one. As usual, YMMV.

Cheers!

I have both the 650 and 580 cables for my 580. To be honest with you I can't really tell a difference.

Physically though the 650 cable is MUCH nicer and just feels more sturdy.
