At the end of the first day, the team batting second already has a lead of over 200, with a century for Joe Root: http://www.espncricinfo.com/the-ashes-2015/engine/match/743969.html

Wow! Records tumbling left, right and centre!

Whoever batted first on that pitch was doomed to lose the match.

The poms won the toss and correctly elected to bowl/field.

Mind you, it was the speed of the collapse that was shocking. The BBC iPlayer site was crashed by the number of people tuning in to hear the carnage.

For too long, English test pitches have erred on the batting side of neutrality. In fact, it has often favoured the Australians (and South Africans) more than the home side.

Our seamers could do at Trent Bridge (and Edgbaston) what they couldn't do at Lords.

There may well be a few departures from the Australian side after this tour is over. The captain's jumping before he's pushed, but there are some other players who haven't delivered at the highest level.

Yep, the cloud cover held long enough to sink the Aussies.

Having said that, the Poms deserved the win.

With the pressure of the trophy off, we may get some entertaining play at the Oval.

It'd be good to see Michael Clarke bow out with a good knock. He may be the Aussie captain, but he's always come across as a decent guy.
