As title says: Are there any standard-sized cell phones that have good sound quality and to which I can connect normal headphones either directly or via an adapter? Storage capacity should be at least 512 MB but more would be preferred.

Thanks.

One of the best you could consider is probably:

mp3, aac & aac+ support

That's a GSM/UMTS model though.

2mpix camera, memory 500MB, upgrades with memory stick due or pro duo.

Thanks halcyon. That's the new W900i, is it?

Do you happen to know if the less expensive non-UMTS W800i has comparable sound quality?

I've heard the w800i very briefly only, I can't comment on how good it is compared to, say the latest Nokia models, but it didn't sound like utter trash at least.

I've settled for the K750i since it's exactly the same as the W800i just with different looks and without the included 512MB external memory. I'll have to get a 1Gb or 2Gb external memory anyway.

Interesting. Where did you buy / get / hear it?

Yeah I know. It pays to edit straight away.

Saint. Panda, I like the W800i quite a lot. It's one of the most usable phones out there and it is a respectable MP3 player. It charges from USB and is a USB Mass Storage class unit. If you follow the \Artist\Album filing format, it's pretty much a case of drag & drop. If you don't then probably best to use the bundled software or at worst case, just dump them all in the root of the \MP3 folder. EQ works, Mega Bass works unlike the iPod and the EQ is customisable. For the diehard Head-Fi'er, you also have pseudo line out options in the form of the MMC-60 cable (the grey cable below with the RCA connectors on the amp side).

Audio problems include frequent loud crack-click between track changes and it does crash once in a while if you do try and use all the features extensively. The only really major flaw is the central control stick, which I swear gets worse in every subsequent version of the Ericsson T68 form factor.

Some people don't like the colour, but I actually prefer this more extrovert hue to the K750i.

That is indeed a nice setup

I know checked what I can write and...

The phone w900i was on display (and to try out) at a local digiexpo last month. One could only play some songs already on the phone.

The sound was good, but in a noisy environment and with no w800 at hand, it's impossible to say if it's any better or if there's any difference in the sound section.

My sister has w800i and I've listened to it and think fairly well of it for a mobile phone as well. I've only listened it to briefly though.

I also haven't heard the new Nokia Nx0/x1 range, maybe they are an option as well.

Generally I like the Sony phone's for their design though. The camera and player functions are IMHO better implemented than on the N90 series I've played with (but not listened to).

There are unlocked versions of the w900i

available at various online cellphones stores for the past few weeks. Beware that current prices for them are in the high dollar range.
