I have the PA2V2 amp and it works really well with my ksc-75 phones adding more depth and soundstage.Im about to buy an ms1 and wondered in what way this amp would add or subtract from the ms1 sound quality?

IMHO a brighter more airy sounding amp would be better, but I did find the PA2V2 added bass impact with the MS1. I preferred my govibe with OPA2227 with the MS1.

It all depends on your taste and preference. PA2V2 adds bass slam and density to most cans and they will be slightly thick, some find this to be a bonus and some a setback.

But to give you ideas, I prefer a transparent amp like the OPA2134PA CMOY that I use right now. 2134 CMOY does not add bass density, but rather pronounce the "thump" nicely and I get more airyness to the sound.

Just give it a try with your PA2V2 since you already have them, you might love them after all. And it has to beremembered that Gary's PA2V2 is immensely popular even among picky Audiophiles

It does benefit to an extent. I noticed it is a bit warmer due to the bass and the soundstage is a tad more than usual. The sound isnt harsh at all, definately worth a try.

I'll chime in even though I use my PA2v2 with an MS2i

More than anything else, I think the amp adds a much needed "presence" to cans that, with only an ipod, sound thin by comparison. Without the amp, I find the MS2i somewhat dry and, at most, decent sounding. The amp adds body, which I think would be a plus for most cans.

I didn't notice a huge difference between the stock 5g iPod out and the PA2V2, when I had that combo. Either way sounds pretty good.

Well, I'm just waiting for that very combination, so it better be great

From what I've read the ms1's might be a tad bit thin on the bass so an amp like PA2v2 could address that issue. Also, people seem to find the amp of 5G iPod pretty lame. For those reasons I decided to try it out. It's not the end of the world if it doesn't happen, but at least I've tried

Depends on your source. The PA2V2 makes a noticable difference when using my SR225's out of my Zen. However, I can't really tell any difference at all out of other sources. Even my Audigy 2 NX drives them fine.
