thanks :) figure out her real name?

Actually no. I have only seen 2 episodes. I need to get back to Code Geass. But dragging me away from music is really hard.

To keep it short, the show and several of the personalities are way too contrived to be natural. The situations (especially the ending) felt cheap and uninspired, designed for maximum tear-jerkiness. The level of emotional response does not always represent a good show. I personally feel it would have been incredible if they kept it between the main character and the ghost girl, and focused on their relationship instead of introducing characters I don't like or care for. Point in case, the guy who lives in the shanty the gang visited as kids. He had the personality of a brick wall.

I made a list of the anime I've seen along with a simple x/10 review next to it. If anybody want's to hear a more in depth review on any of these shows, feel free to ask.

Wow your a harsh critic. 6/10 for Deathnote. That actually shocks me, I found no issues with Deathnote until after L died.

I have no interest in giving every show a 10/10.

I feel quite the opposite about Death Note. I hated the second half with a burning passion. It took 4 years and a lot of willpower to get past the halfway note in the series. Death Note should have ended when L died. The second half felt tacked on to the beginning to add more episodes to sell more copies. If the show ended when it should have, I would have given it a solid 8/10. Maybe 6/10 is too high.

BobSaysHi, as far as Ano Hana goes, i would agree that Poppo was kind of a worthless character. Like his only purpose was to be the guy that believed in menma. But that doesnt really seem very valuable. and then at end, his reason for being sad, seemed so contrived, like teh staff realized that he was worthless, and had to make something up, so that he would fit in with the rest of the gang. But i think that the rest of the characters were definitely of importance. Anaru in particular provided a good contrast to Menma for jintan.

I agree with you except for the fact Deathnote was amazing up until L died. I tried to watch Bleach but it was a bore fest after the first 60 episodes. I tried 1 episode of Naruto and fell asleep. I liked Inuyasha except for the fact it was slow paced and had to many fillers. Yugioh was just plain stupid now that I think about it. Pokemon was lame, Ranma 1/2 a mainstream anime from the 90s was good except for the fact everything was repetituve. Of all these shows Deathnote stood out. I honestly don't know what anyone could hate about Deathnote other then the part after L died. It just seems to me people are trying to be hipsters and hating everything mainstream. Well sometimes things are popular for a reason, and that reason is because they are good. Though that does rarely happen admittedly. But I showed Deathnote to my English 12 teacher and she praised the character development and how everything fit together. When someone with an English degree finds few flaws I think I would trust their opinion over someone who I don't know on the internet. Personally I give Deathnote a 7.5/10. The first 25 episodes deserve a 9 or higher but the last 12 or so episodes get no more then 5/10 from me, and the ending just kind of ticked me off.

i think the primary reason why i disliked DeathNote so much, was because it was like Code Geass, but worse...i wish id spent the time i spent watching deathnote, watching code geass again

yeah i didnt care for deathnote at all.

but i dont understand the low score for Evangelion 2.22 You Can(not) Advance....why the hate? is it just because it didnt something new and different?

Honestly, a bit. I went into it not knowing a thing about the plot changes, but expecting another remake of the original (Eva 1.11 improved the pace of the beginning dramatically, and I much preferred it to the series beginning. In fact, I didn't like the beginning to EVA much at all). I didn't enjoy the lighter romance elements, and it bothered me to see Rei displaying emotions. The addition of the new character seemed designed to sell merchandise.

I like Code Geass based off of what I saw, but I personally can't stand 99.9% of Mecha. I feel it has become a stereotype for anime. Also giant robot fighters just sounds gay to me.
No offense to fans of the genre.

What?  Eva?  Pandering to sell merchandise?  Surely you jest!  /sarcasm

This is coming from an Eva fan...though I admittedly have not watched my copy of the second movie.  I'll probably give it more leeway than I should because Maaya Sakamoto is the seiyuu for the new character.

Yeah the first was amazing in its ability to just tell the story of the first several episodes, but shortened and in HD with WAAAYYY better animation. But the second one you really can't treat as part of the show at all, its completely new. I remember the first time i watched it, after it came out on BD in japan, and i sat down anticipating the same thing as what they did with 1.11, and as soon as it started i was like What?!?! but now that ive seen it a bunch of times, i appreciate that they're going in a new direction. Also, many people are theorizing that what occurs in 2.22(and 1.11 i guess) isnt "real" that its all inside shinji's head. If you pay close attention to the character interactions, everyone is considerably nicer to him in the movies, than they were in the show. And you caan view that as shinji experiencing the world as he would have liked it to be. specially with Rei, who he obviously always liked and cared about, but never really showed anything back, except in rare instances i the show. So if you look at it that way, i think alot of the events of 2.22 make a ton more sense. Though the end.....im still like What, im excited to see where they go from there, since theres still several angels left(even thought they skipped some) and yet...you now what i mean, its seems to be pretty close to the "end"

I really like Mari, but probably just becuase she's so mysterious/hot/glasses wearing/eccentric

you have to realize that the mecha are just a platform to tell the story that the creator wants to tell. LIke i guess CG is more of a mecha show than Evangelion(which isnt really a mecha show at all) but its still not really a mecha show. they both just happen to have mecha in them.

EDIT: sorry guys lol sometimes i jus get so excited that i forget that i can multiquote

Awesome, there's an anime thread here! I'm watching Kimi Kiss Pure Rouge and Tora Dora. I have a huge list I need to continue on :[ this includes Evangelion, Hajime no Ippo, Gundam 00, Gurren Lagann, Girl who Leapt Through Time, Howl's Moving Castle, and that's all I can think of from the top of my head. I did like Naruto in the past when it first came out, but then I couldn't keep up with all the episodes and got lazy! Same with Bleach. I can be really lazy with anime. Not just anime though, also video games and movies. I have a huge back log for those as well...
