Any anime series that you've been enjoying?

A few years ago, I wasn't too fond of the art style that One Piece has.  I recently came back to it and realized that the art style is also what makes the show a lot more fun to watch and enjoy.  Also, I love how the characters develop so much throughout the series (both manga and anime).  Now I like the series so much that I decided to make the straw hat logo the art for the earpieces of my JH3As (which I hope will come soon...

I couldn't stand Kanon personally. The drawing style really annoyed me. Also the storyline was laughably ridiculous. I'm usually alright with anime storylines. Clannad and Clannad After Story are my favorite series of all time and they're pretty weird. But I mean a fox who turns into a girl because it wants to spend more time with this kid it met in its cubhood? The moments which were supposed to be emotionally touching just seemed funny to me because of the silliness of the situation. I stopped watching at about episode 10.

The art style for 2002 was ridiculous, but 2006 was better I thought. Yes the storyline was weird, but I found it touching. I found Clannad/After Story to be more memorable.

I would so love to see Fuuko's face if I were to show her Super Mario 64.

You have to watch through ep. 4 at the least. Most anime I try to give the 3 episode test before dropping, but with Madoka they made a specific decision in the early episodes. It makes sense if you're familiar with magical girl anime.

Maho Shojo Madoka Magica is boring at first, I agree. But apart from it's slow start I feel the series has grasped perfection, or at least came close to.
I would have to call it a master piece, maybe on the same level as Neon Genesis Evangelion, just very different.

On another note, I have watched Ano Hana (don't even ask me what the full tilte was). It was beautiful.
What I especially love about it is that it makes you feel very nostalgic about your own childhood. And you can then perfectly relate to all the characters in the anime. After which I became perfectly immersed in the story line, as it should be.

After that I decided to finally watch the Rebuild of Evangelion 1 and 2. I thought 1 had nothing special, just a retelling with better animation.
The second of the tetralogy on the other hand was excellent. I love the new scenes and character(s) they added, really spices it up perfectly.

Now, before I end my rambling, I'd like to say that I'll be going on vacation tomorrow, where I'm planning to watch a lot of anime, apart from listening to music.

This is what I have downloaded so far, anyone else have some suggestions? After watching a couple anime I feel I like the likes of Ano Hana the most. The very dramatic ones, that force you to think about your own live as well. I don't need action, and in the case of animes such as Neon Genesis I actually dislike the action parts, and I only really enjoyed the parts where people are talking.

  • Kanon
  • Mushishi
  • Clannad
  • Clannad After Story
  • Code Geass
  • Code Geass R2
  • Samurai X
  • Death Note

How is that. I personally find they are less boring than 'real life' series. (is there a more posh word for this?)
They are better in being overly dramatic, and are better at stirring up emotions in its audience.

let me put it this way. i find tv in general boring.

I liked Madoka a lot, but I personally don't think it's a masterpiece. The biggest flaw is the lack of good characterization. It got better towards the end, but they still felt like they were there for the plot rather than the plot working around them. Obviously subjective preferences and all that, but thought I'd chime in.

If you like talking Death Note is great for that. Also look at Tatami Galaxy.
