Any anime series that you've been enjoying?

Jahn, what anime are you following this season? I've been watching your recommendation, so far I like it, I'm just wondered what else are you watching?

I read Katsu! the other day, it was pretty good. I hate sports but it kept me going through it, I recommend it! After I finished that I read Rough which was also good, but not quite as good...

I like both however I prefer Rough than Katsu.

well let's see, aside from Moribito and Lagann, which are top tier, i'd say...

eyeshield 21 first, overdrive second, for the sports genre-

one piece and naruto for the mainstream ongoing self-torture -

and Lucky Star for no particular reason.

but for someone diving in, i'd recommend moribito and lagann, since they both just started and are of high quality, and that's about it. the rest are either ongoing (can you say, already past their 100th+ episode?) or kinda weak but odd enough to watch (cycling anime? seinfeld for otaku teens?) Heroic Age i started, but then i dropped - lost interest.

OH - and Code Geass. If you really want a mix of Gundam/Death Note/CLAMP. But seeing as how the last two episodes aren't coming out until the end of summer, and it's currently in severe cliffhanger mode until then, you might want to hold off blowing through them all until your pace gets you past a few months first. It's addictive. One seriously What moment in there you have to see.

I'd actually recommend Koutetsushin Jeeg and Reideen for the mecha crowd, and Seto no Hanayome for those who like great comedy. Aside from Gurrenn Lagann and Lucky Star, these are my absolute favorites this season.
If anyone wants me to create reviews for these or any other anime (as long as I've seen them) I can definitely try.

Oh, yeah, my personal preferences are (obviously) mecha and comedy anime. I've been watching anime from those genres since I was like 2 years old, so I fancy myself a kind of expert in them.

jahn for lucky star which fansub group are you following, and what do you think about it? (the translation/anime itself)

I've been following Bleach like a madman. I have also been reading the fan-subbed manga. Besides that, recently started watching the series called Claymore.

a shout out to claymore. That series is totally bad ass. tons of violence and blood and good fight scenes. reminds me of black lagoon in a way. thought the two series have nothing in commen with each other other then they are both very violent

a.f.k. - reason? it comes out with the most recent episodes first, hehe. lucky star is one of those "watch and delete" jobs for me - I don't think i saved a series since Haruhi - which by the way is one of the reasons i still follow eyeshield (ooh, Haruhi is managing the team!) and picked up but dropped Rocket Girls (haruhi is gonna make it to space eventually but...yawn)

Darker than Black is still doing ok. I can't wait for the soundtrack to be released, I feel like copping some of those bass lines.

Following Seirei Moributo, Overdrive and Lagann at the moment. Also Moonlight Mile but no new episodes for a while.

And I'd like to make another endorsement for Nodame Cantabile. Anybody with the faintest interest in classical music should check this one out.

Also, lots of good "new" manga at the moment like Shin Angyo Oishi and Claymore.

I bought the first volume of Claymore a few months ago but I didn't even bother finishing it because it seemed a bit stale. Does it get better?

Not sure about the story of Claymore (I'm still on the early few episodes), but it was the unique character design that initially drew me towards it.

Yep, gets better. I stopped after volume 1 as well and only picked it up because the cover was interesting. Good story development. The boy doesn't really matter in volumes 3-12, maybe later on. Sort of like a female Berserk. Ok, not really but there's a similar feeling somehow. Her cold and untouchable demeanour goes away and she actually becomes the underdog who has a lot of potential, but not in a cheesy way. Alita meets Berserk if you will. I think you should like it. Speaking of Alita, you have to read the new arc Last Order, amazing stuff. The original was one of my favourite mangas and the second arc doesn't disappoint.

By the way, are you still following Blade of the Immortal and Vagabond? I think both, i.e. the scanlations, are really picking up the pace right now.

I gotta say, between Code Gaess, Battlestar Galactica, and Heroes I'm all cliffhanger-ed out

I didn't know Blade of the Immortal was still being worked on? Time to go hunting for files I guess :P

I'm still buying the volumes of boti and vagabond as they come out. Takes forever for them to release a volume...
