This is not a serious post, but I think it might give you a chuckle.

iPod order confirmed by email 1st thing monday (10th) morning.
Order status reports on wednesday, "Shipment picked up at Taipei, 3.34am (GMT) on the 12th Nov." Great, I think, it's on it's way already. A few hours later, "Cleared customs at Taipei, 6.00am, 12th Nov." Ok, ok... Yesterday, "Departed terminal, 2.45am, 13th Nov.", WHAT?! aaaggh.. come on come on!.....frenzied trawling of Apple and global and UK carrier agents websites, two calls to Apple UK to see if they've got any info, "Well it left Taiwan this morning, and you should allow 8 to 36 hours for it to get to our western europe depot." 36 hours?! Eh? Is it being carried by a donkey along the Silk Road? Orient Express? Jeez... Well. Sit tight, spend another 14 hours ripping CDs to AAC, convert another stack of WMAs to MP3..sit tight... Check this morning, nothing new...sigh...
Checked again ten minutes ago.. "Arrived at terminal, Luxembourg, 11am GMT, 14th Nov." Woohoo! That's more like it! Come on baby, only another 470 miles to go!

(We will keep you updated on this story)

Haha, you think that's bad? One of my (transport policy) lecturers delights in telling us about how he ordered some CDs from Amazon.com (USA). I (and my lecturer) live in the UK. The CDs were by an obscure French artist.
The package of CDs were apparently shipped from France, to Amazon's depot somewhere in the US, then to the UK. Considering the UK is at the closest point 30 miles from France, that is some detour. And that is a very simplified version of the story. I think one or two other bonus continents might have been involved somewhere along the line.

I had to wait over 6 weeks for a pair of RS-1, the RA-1 and signatures to be built and shipped to me. I had to wait about 6 weeks for the MS Pros. I had to wait over two months for my Music Timbre ICs. I no longer wait in anticipation or check package tracking...
