another stupid question

so my amp is coming along, i now need some wire for power and panel components and the like. can i srounge random bits of wire from arround the house, or do i need to brave the non internet world and get some particular kind of wire for this?

silver plated teflon insulated wire off of ebay is SWEET.

if you dont want to wait, i would go and search for a few colors of a nice smallish gauge of wire locally. probably about 22ga or 24ga.

A small guage braided wire is easiest to work with. I just got some multi colored copper spools from radio shack, but you can get them anywhere. I even saw some at the dollar store!

When you start pimping out your amps you could order up some of the solid core silver wire

I use it for the input and output connections, and the copper wire for the switch and power connections.

Silver wire adds a nice smoothness to the sound.

I've only purchased solid silver once, and that will be the only time. It's much too expensive to compensate for the SQ difference.
The silver-plated teflon wire from NavShips off of Ebay is really cheap, so that's what I'd go for
