I purchased a Fiio X3 from Advanced MP3 in England and the sound quality is fantastic, with files stored in the internal memory.

However I cannot get the X3 to recognise my Sandisk 64GB Mobile Ultra TransFlash Class 10 Micro SD cards. I have used the default format of ExFAT and also reformatted using SDFormatter as FAT32 via both Quick Format, Full (erase) and Full (overwrite).

I can copy files via my PC and USB to the SD disk in the X3 and the PC sees the files but when I 'Browse Files' - 'Micros SD Card' I get the message 'Playback Failed File Not Found'

This is really frustrating, I just want to store and listen to music.

Please help me because at the moment I just have an X3 with 8MB internal memory usable which is not what should be the case.

Firmware is FW1.23EN

Thanks in anticipation

please update to the newest firmware 2.05 and you can format the TF card by X3 itself.

Where do I download the firmware from and how do I upgrade the firmware?

It does seem somewhat ridiculous that I buy a quality product and then have to upgrade it to work as it should in the first place.

I think some of us regard firmware upgrades as a sign of an involved, responsive manufacturer. Of course, it can be otherwise.

Anyone who has a mobile phone or computer must be used to this, surely?

The answer to all your issues can be found in this forum.

Anyway. Try http://fiio.com.cn/support/download.aspx

And for formatting your card : http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm

The forum is your friend ... and on occasions, so is Google.

I agree re upgrades, however if I buy a device to play music on via sd cards and that player needs updating before it can so do then I think I am entitloed to moan. I am in favour of responsive suppliers but these suppliers should also not release equipment that is not fit for purpose.

I have been working in IT for over 25 years and have never had to faff around with firmware upgrades immediately on purchasing any device. OS upgrades are a fact of life, as are device driver updates but they are somewhat easier to apply than a Fiio firmware update.
