I no longer own a single LP. Haven't for years. I remember distinctly my Boston - "Don't Look Back" LP and playing Queen - "Another One Bites the Dust" backward to hear the secret message

. It's been awhile.

Having said all that, my question is: what are the dimensions of a typical album cover?

I just built a couple rather large built-in bookcases with fixed shelf height before I started thinking vinyl acquisition--literally a couple days ago. I would just hate to find out all my shelves are 1/4" too short.

(!!!)

Thanks.

I googled for awhile and found out an LP cover is approximately 12" square and replacement sleeves are sometimes slightly larger, 12-1/4" square or so. You can buy stand-up frames to display your favorite album covers and they are 12-1/2" square.

My finished shelves are 12-3/4" tall.

Lucky me.
