The conclusion was really dumb. The only time their jaws dropped due to incredible sound was listening to the HD800. But it didn't win. Just plain idiotic.

We all hear differently, what may be good to one may not be good to others. I am not surprised by different outcomes from different reviews/comparisons.

RS1s beat out HD800..........wow! How wrong can my ears be......that said, I must get a pair of RS1 instead of trying them out at the store

With the proper set up... and the tape mod... and fully burnt in... the RS-1s are very hard to beat!

But... when you're in the realm of the HD800s, HD580/600/650s, Denon D7000/D5000s, AD2000/W5000s - you're really splitting hairs to select one as better than the others.

But... if you must... the RS-1s could quite easily be the ones.

It just depends on how well the set up matches each one.

And... you must find the matching source and amp, burn them in fully, and apply the tape mod - otherwise you may as well "take a pass" on them.

That all may be true Gradofan2.

But the reviewer stated that for the first time his jaw dropped from the music he heard was through the HD800.

This is a clear statement by the reviewer that the HD800 according to him are the better headphones. But instead he decided to choose the RS-1.

That's just weird and I have wonder why he decided to write that.
