Apparently Beyerdynamic has introduced a new specialist phone, the DT770 "M".

The PDF download (230 KB) highlights quite a few differences (efficiency, impedance, isolation, clamping force, cord style, and so on) from the familiar DT770/770 PRO.

I thought the DT770s had the grey earpads??...different varieties maybe? I have pics of them with and without them...ugh...

From what I've been told it has more isolation via non-porous earpads and higher clamping force - bonus stuff like a straight cable and volume control are a pretty cool idea though

With the normal DT770pro a little more clamping force increases the bass, so I have a feeling the new model won't sound much different overall, but the different earpad design and clamping force will have an effect.

3 m straight cable would sound nice to me - but 6.5 N clamping force... well... not so... That's almost double of the original DT770Pro/250's, which have 3.5 N and already clamp like a vice... Thus I don't think this new M model will gain much popularity in the consumer market - but as it's marketed as speciality product, anyway, that's seems ok...
