An all triode Class A amp Review: GPinto GP-H2A

May 7, 2012 at 4:51 AM Post #17 of 54
After the throes of burning, I replaced better tubes. (Now with 4xJJ ECC802S)

Truly! The soundstage is superb! Deep and wide. Even better LCD2 with EF6 that I've experienced.

The sound is enjoyable, that SS amp can't to be.

The power is no problem with LCD2, almost I listening the pot @11~12'.

Bad news is my favorite DAC is dead...

Right on. The original tubes are ok, but not the best by far.

That's what I heard too. Soundstage is MASSIVE. And the effortlessness and the clarity within that
soundstage is simply breathtaking.

That's also what I had on the orthoaynamics --  around 10 to 12 o'clock.

On Sennheisers (HD800, HD600) it was around 7 - 8.

Keep the comments coming..

cheers

Seems like there is something wrong with your set-up.

1. Check your source:
       - Connect your source to another amp & see if it works & sounds fine.
2. Check if:
      - Right channel is correctly connected to the right ear-phone and Left to the left ear-phone
      - the ear-phones are working in phase (same polarty) very important!
3. Put the original tubes back in (if you have changed them).
4. Let the amp be turned on for a 1/2 hour.
5. Touch the tubes, they should all be warm (some warmer than other), nevertheless the all should be fairly warm to the touch.
6. Listen again. If you still have problems contact me.

Yeah,
Don't touch it.

hello :) I also thought the source is the problem  http://it.store.creative.com/sound-blaster/sound-blaster-x-fi-hd/1-19829.aspx and  now i'm using my kenwood ka 7300 pre section to drive the GPinto and the situation is much better! but i think this cannot be a definitive solution; but at the moment i don't have the money to buy  a different source... I'm courius can you tell me what's the trimer? does it  set tubes' bias?

THey were inverted I sent a mail to gpinto and they aiutorised me to invert channel  (i  inverted them at the imput selector) and now it's good but all the other problems were  there also before of this
