The Postman Syndrome. If you ever need to listen to a bi-polar band, here you go. This group switches back and forth between harsh death metal urgs, and harmonic pitched vocals, which sound absolutely gorgeous. The ability of the guitarists to go from heavy ripped up death chords and flawlessly transgress into light plucked high pitched strings is simply genious. The band is topped off with some beatiful rolling drums, many of these sequences are brilliantly supportive of the sound. Also in the mix is a bassist who's primary function is sublime genious, most of the time his lines don't stick out and are barley loud enough to make their way into the stream with the guitars, but the function he proves is sometrhing I've becommmed quite enamored with; providing subtle support while running on a tangent, by breaking into fast scale climbs and minute improvisations. These guys have become the latest band I've been loving to dissect over my 'cans'. Give em a listen.
