Hi,

For those users of the Etymotics 4S, what amplifiers do you use? Right now, I'm using a DIY JMT portable amp with the Etys, but that's my portable setup. For a home system, maybe a more powerful amp would better improve my already pleasurable listening experience.
I'm thinking more in the lines of the MG Head DT as I can get it here for CAN$400.
Any comments?

Thanks
Jason

Another idea is to get something like Corda or a Headroom Amp since due to the extreme closed nature of the Ety's, x-feed could be a nice addition.

Hi Tim,

MY DIY JMT amp already has a crossfeed right now. I'm looking for something bigger more powerful for my home setup

Cheers

I currently use one of the old Cosmic amps and it's great with my 4Ss. I think you can still buy these for $400 US from headroom or maybe the old Supreme for $300 US which should be around $400 CAN, right?

Anyway, it's a very nice amp, although I must admit that I've also been curious about what a tubed amp would do for the Etys and I have been seriously considering buying an MG Head as my next purchase (which is months away, at least).

Well, I'm using an old Max. Works quite well, but might be more than you want to spend.

It is really, has anyone tried the Etys with the MG Head DT?

I used the Ety 4S with the Head and they sounded wonderful!

Hi Flash,

If you don't mind me asking, how does the ety's sound with the MG Head as compared with the Sudgen and the DIY amp?

Thanks
J

Jim,
To me the MG Head did indeed sound better than the Cmoy DIY. I did do some tube rolling and other tubes can certainly make it sound even better. I think it's a very good value for the money. I'll bet you'll love it with the Ety's!
