amp went defunct

hey guys

ok i know someone posted this before but i can't seem to get anything through searching. i have a cmoy-hansen w/crossfeed and i took the bottom off of the case its in and then when i put it back together all i get is a hum....anyone???

and i accidentally had tip negative instead of postive on my power plug ...when i turned it on...

Putting a reversed power supply across an op-amp is a great way to kill it quick. I've had chips survive this for a few seconds, but more often than not they die instantly.

If you've got an extra op-amp or a TLE2426 and a few common DIYing parts, you could build my simple op-amp testing circuit to find out if your chip is dead.
