I am aware that there are many opinions saying the 840 should not need amplification.​

I am considering one because I do have to max out the (puny) amps on my Sansa clip & LG phone for many of the songs I have. Doesn't maxing the amp (almost any amp...) increase the amount of distortion...especially in the bass ?​

I am considering the Fiio Andes E07K, because​

A) I'm pretty sure I won't need much amplification and​

B) I'll have the DAC to use when listening on my PC​

 ​

Any thoughts/opinions are welcome (Yes even those contrary to my own).​

I ended up choosing the Fiio E17 over the E07K due to the additional flexibility of the digital input. If you don't need the additional input then the E07K would be an easy choice for a buget DAC+amp.

Thanks cammerarian! That's the internal debate I'm having with myself....whether or not I need the additional input. I appreciate the feedback!
