i have heard that tube amps benefit the sennheiser 595's the best. i am thinking of ordering a hornet for my 595's. will this work okay or does this suck. i also just ordered a pair of dt770-80's. will the hornet work okay with both of these (and the grado sr225's i am about to order)? just curious.

The 595 works reasonably well with ss amps. But the 595 just blossoms with a good tube amp.

The ASL OTL mk III is a tube amp that mates well with both the HD595 and the Darth Beyers, IMO.

I've finally got around to using proper headphones with my Hornet. The HD 595 doesn't seem to improve a great deal. It does sound better and more punchy-theres quite a lot of bass now. To be honest I would be perfectly happy even if I wasn't amping it. imo of course.

My MPX-3 takes my 595s to a whole new level so I'd say that tubes are the way to go with them.
With no amp they're okay, but with my amp they're great.

+1 on tubes.
(notice we all have vastly different tube amps  )
