Let me know all you who've experienced this set up. If you don't like this combo, what would be a better combo with an amp < 500

What are the defining characteristics of the relationship between the mapletree and the RS-1?

In general the WooAudio 3 provides exceptional sound qualities with the right tubes and source.

I think of my two amps, the XCAN v3 in stock form sounds better with the RS-1's than the WooAudio 3 in the stock form - although both sound great.

The WooAudio 3 in stock form has exceptional sound with the HD650's, perhaps even better than the XCAN v3 in stock form.

However, if you were to modify the WooAudio 3 to provide a bit more gain - change the values of the two input tube resistors - then it would possibly sound better than the XCAN v3 with the RS-1's. Of course, the other mods/upgrades, recommended on this site, for the WooAudio 3 would improve it even further - see that thread (Woo 3 Modified).

It seems that several people who purchased Woo amps in the past month or two have recently sold them. You may want to search the sale board and ask them why they sold them.

Me too .... the Mapletree is a very good amp for the grados.
