Im looking into purchasing the PRO-900 as my first pair of high end headphones, but i heard they need an amp... I really want to spend max 100$ on an amp to power these sufficently. I use onboard audio so a usbdac/amp combo would be great. I was looking at the Nuforce Icon Portable amp, would this be good enough? Its pretty much 100$ shipped to Canada. Suggests would be helpful

For $100, the NIM works very well with the Pro 900, but I find the bass to be a bit underpowered. (it's leaner and you may prefer it if you find their bass response too great now) FWIW: When connected as a DAC, I'd say the NIM is equivalent to the analog outputs on the X-Fi Prelude. I don't know that you can do much better on the low budget.
