I am looking for an amp for the HD650 my budget is £200. I know the amps i have selected will not drive the HD650 to their highest levels but I like their price, small size, usb power and weight. My 3 options are, the Audio Engine D1 (£140), Fostex HP-A3 (£175- maybe less £160) and the Meridian Explorer 2 (£129). Which of these would you think will work best and what are the advantages and disadvantages of each. I'm not too enthusiastic about the D1 but it is much more popular than the other two. the Fostex HP-A3 is a good deal as it used to retail at £300 and is Japanese build. The Explorer 2 has the Highest resolution audio and smallest size which is good but will it be able to power the HD650s as well as the other two larger units might.

Schiit Asgard 2 would be my recommendation for a desktop amp.
 
Are you trying to get a DAC as well? Are you using a desktop PC or a laptop? Is this setup for music, gaming, or both?
