i'm thinking about ordering them. i'm also currently getting a used cmoy amp (1 9v, AD823AN opamp). would that be sufficient for the beyerdynamic dt770? i'm not a hardcore head-fier. i may just be getting started (scary thought eh?)
thanks

FWIW,

I listened to acidtripwow's Beyer 770 and RKV tube amp hooked up to a Music Hall 25 CDP at the Chicago meeting over the weekend. WOW! Acid is right those Beyers are great rock phones. I listened to Stairway to Heaven and acid's Gov't Mule disc. Great bass, more than my 250-80 and that distinctive Beyer warmness, though not as warm as the 250-80.

You may want to PM acidtripwow and ask if he has the older 600ohm or the newer 250ohm version.

Regards - reynman

I have a (2) 9 volt cmoy and it drives the beyer's quite nicely, but that thunderous bass is not as present, still sounds good though.

Is a JMT or Tangent-built cha47(single 9V, altoids or penguin tin) enough for these cans? How bout a Super Mini Meta v.2?

If you get a juiced up altoids with dual 9v, it should sound ok, i suggest looking into the cmoy amp which JMT also builds.

Mine are the 250 ohm version. I use mine with the RKV and it sounds great. For portable amps I use the basic JMT built Meta42 amp and it sounds great too. There is more than enough power for the 770s driven by a Meta.
