Hi people, i'm thinking about buying the AKG K7xx on Massdrop, but it's not for now. I don't have the money right now to buy them. I just want know which amp could possibly go with the K7xx.

I heard that the Magni isn't sufficient for it, I'm not a pro in audio so I don't have much knowledge. I don't have any budget, but I hope that I don't need a 500$ amp to drive them.

Thank you !

Magni3 is enough to drive them in terms of having enough power and low enough noise and distortion. The problem with them is that once distortion is starting to become audible that amp tends to get somewhat brighter, making the treble peaks on the K701 worse.

You still don't need a $500 amp though - there's the Asgard2. Or you can get the AudioGD NFB-11 which has its own DAC circuit, although it has no analogue inputs.

What does the analogue input ?

Have you look at the Cord Mojo? It is a that DAC and amp in one unit. It have enough power for the AKG 7XX
That's a USD$500+ amp/dac... OP has already said he hoped to avoid that price range.

@BackBoneCrusher
Is there a particular sound signature are you looking for? The HP determines the majority of that, followed by the amp. The DAC contributes the least. So you should focus your decision making in that order.

From your old posts, you seem to have been pondering your purchase for quite a while now... I'd highly, highly recommend auditioning as many HPs and sources as possible to figure out what suits you.
