A tube amp.

I could be more specific, but would need to have an idea of what price range you might be looking at.

Well in that price range the Darkvoice 336 is a good choice, but it is somewhat heavy. Perhaps the Meier Audio Swing would be a good choice - it's predecessor, the Arietta, was very good with the DT990's.

You could try a Meier amp indeed. They get recommended a lot for Beyers and imo they mate pretty good.

Is there anyone around selling an older M^3? With an okay power supply, the M^3 drives the DT990s like a firetruck.

I agree that the M^3 and DT990s have great synergy. I think these cans definitely benefit from a full, warm sounding amp. While the Beta22 is fantastic with these headphones, I think the M^3 is a much "funner" pairing and is a very enjoyable expierence. Even with a B22 nearby, I plug into the M^3 when I listen to the Beyers.

my DT990/600ohm + M3 is an awesome pairing.

Are you saying the dv337 creates too much bass or too much slam? Are you using the 600ohm 990's?

I ask because I have a pair of dt990 600ohms driven by a darkvoice 332. I find the bass to be light on a lot of music and definitely without weight on most. I was considering stepping up to the 337 in hopes of a little more bass.

The m^3 sounds interesting but I really love the tube midrange on the 990's.

Any other thoughts on amps that might improve (boost / add weight / 3 dimensionality) to the 600 ohm 990's?

Thanks
