I recently bought some Beyer DT990s and am quite happy with them. I bought a Musical Fidelity VCAN amp to power them. I did audition the amp at an audio shop and thought they sounded best for their price point. My source is a Sansa Fuze playing 320kbps MP3 or FLAC files or a Marantz CD5001.
I want to explore tube amps and possibly a DAC but in general I am wondering what would make the most difference in audio quality for my dollar. I am new to this and there are so many options available. I listen to a wide range of music, rock, rap, classical, metal
Most of my music is digital and sitting on a QNAP NAS so some type of streaming device into a new amp is also a possibility.
