Amp Benefits?

Amps give an "Uumph!" straight to your headphones. It also modifies the sound, or how some would say, color it, how much of that depends on the specified amp. If you're getting a low end amp, don't expect vast improvement over the headphone jack on your computer, you might be disappointed. Also keep in mind, it takes time to extinguish the difference as you take time to get used to your gear.

Better sound, more power for complex passages like crescendos. More control in the bass region

I started because I wanted to drive high-impedance cans and my ipod couldn't do it. Then I noticed that they all sounded "better".

Then I needed to find out how much "better" I could make it.

Then I ran out of money.
