What are your thoughts about Bonds' pursuit of Aaron's record 755 home runs?
How do you feel about all this BALCO stereoid scandal?

Please keep this thread clean: no profanity, bashing or disrespecting any baseball players, etc.

Some tv networks plan to interrupt their programs to show Bonds' 755th
and 756th HRs live!

I've read somewhere that ESPN conducted an analysis of Barry Bonds home runs.
They concluced that without use of stereoids Bonds would have had 100 less HRs.
This means that now he would have about, say, 650 HRs and not 750 HRs.
This makes a difference, doesn't it?
This in turn means that he would never pass Aaron's record!!!

I wonder how many HRs Hank Aaron would have had if he had used stereoids:
850, ...., 900+?

Outside Miller Park a plaque in the ground commemorates the spot where Aaron's 755th home run landed.
In early June 2007 Aaron was asked about Bonds at the monument's unveiling.
Hank Aaron replied:
Quote:

"I don't even know how to spell his name."

************************************************** ******

In June I read an article in the San Francisco Chronicle about BALCO scandal.
This was an interview with the former prosecutor Kevin Ryan. Here are the main points:

- Five men were convicted including BALCO founder, Victor Conte, of conspiring
to distribute UNdetectable stereoids

- The prosecutor (Ryan) was investigating whether Bonds lied under oath in 2003 when
he told a grand jury that he had never knowingly taken banned drugs.

- One of Ryan's controversial decisions was offering immunity from prosecution
to more than 30 ELITE athletes from baseball and Olympic Track and Field

who had used BALCO's drugs, and keeping the athletes' names out
the public court files
.

- In July 2006, Ryan also decided not to seek an indictment of Bonds for perjury,
choosing instead to trnsfer the case to a new grand jury for more investigation.

- Greg Anderson, Bonds' trainer and a BALCO defendant, refused to testify against
Bonds and has been imprisoned for contempt of court
since before Thanksgiving 2006.

- Some of Ryan's own prosecutors believed that they had enough evidence
to INDICT Bonds without Anderson's testimony
.

- Officials from the IRS and FBI unsuccessfully lobbied the Justice Department for an indictment.

- The investigation started almost five years ago and still continues!

************************************************** *****

It's interesting, isn't it?

Among those 30+ elite athletes Bonds is the biggest name.
Mark McGwire must be on this list as well.
Jason Giambi of New York Yankees decide to cooporate with the streoids investigator. -
There he must be on this list as well.
Who else?

Refresher
What Bonds told BALCO grand jury

What Bonds told BALCO grand jury

Remark
Bonds has never failed any steroid/drug test because
he used Undetectable stereoids and growth homones!

What do you think about all this?

Hank Aaron's record is a Sacred Record of all American sports and no player
who uses stereoids and growth hormones should be allowed to touch it!

What I have written I have written.

P.S.
Barry Bonds before and after (you know what!?)

What's interesting that it's been five years, and they haven't touched him yet. If the evidence is so insurmountable, why haven't they indicted him yet? Don't you think they would have by now, if they could?
What about the fact that steriods were legal up until a few years ago?

I'm willing to bet that nothing is going to happen to him.

He's going to break the record, we can't do anything about it. The best thing you can do is not care.

Edit: Aren't you kind of a hypocrit when you bad mouth him for taking steroids, but avocate marijuana use in your signiture? Same kind of debate.

Off topic:
First try to understand what I am saying in my signature.
Obviously you have not understood it at all! Ha, ha, ....

Regarding stereoids in baseball: Giambi

Why would Giambi testify?

I like what Hank Aaron said on this matter:

In early June 2007 Aaron was asked about Bonds at the monument's unveiling.
Hank Aaron replied:
Quote:

"I don't even know how to spell his name."

Nick--they're completely different worlds, marijuana and steroid use in professional sports. Marijuana is far from being a performance-enhancing substance (and it looks like the sig isn't even talking about it anyhow). I don't see how you see them as being similar debates, but PM me if you feel like explaining. As for me, I'd like it if Bonds would just quit before tainting the records, and maybe he'll be a little better remembered that way. Wishful thinking, for sure, but I'll still hold out hope.

More impressed by what Ruth and Gehrig did in the old Yankee Stadium.

Thats what people should be debating to rebuke the record - short yards and watered down pitching. Hell, it seems like someone else is clipping 500 every night on Sportscenter.

Instead, a nasty smell trails this whole thing. Its a shame. The greatest single record in American sports, and we can't even enjoy the show.

Curse you Barry Bonds. I sincerely hope for divine intervention so you don't get the number.

At least we won't have to wait another thirty years for the next one.

As a long time Giants fan (first game attended in 1962) all I care about is getting it over with so that we can spend Bond's salary on some other players.

I was at the first game Barry played in SF and he hit a home run his first at bat. I didn't think he was worth the money then and I still don't.

I still watch Baseball from time to time (mostly live) but I can't say I give a rat's ass even if I was still big on the sport. The only record that's being broken here is the amount of BS MLB is feeding us about actually caring that Bonds is on steroids and plans to take him down. Are you kidding? The only thing bigger than his arms and home runs is the RATINGS this guy is drawing.

As for the Steroids:pot comparison, all I can say is it's ludicrous. Although I do share Red's stance that drugs of any kind in professional sport should be outlawed, pot included. These are ATHLETES!

Who?

Oh; baseball.

I used to watch that. Even went to a few games. Then the players seemed to think that drugs were ok, and then they all went on strike for more money and then the Umpires went on strike for more money and then they started selling their autographs to the fans for more money and then individual players started walking out in the middle of the season for more money and I just....kinda....

....lost interest....
