Again, Steve has explicitly stated that the album was recorded and mixed entirely in Analog. Yes it may have been recorded hot, but that recording was not altered in Pro-Tools to make it even hotter.

Also, it may look "hot" because the dynamics of an RHCP album does not vary as much as say, a classical record where in one section you may have a quiet Oboe solo at pianissimo, but the next you have the entire orchestra, timpanis and all at fortissimo.

THAT'S SO SAD!

Now if I had a top notch turntable & AD I would sooo make my own vinyl->CD remaster. But no, I cannot get into vinyl. The laserdiscs eat up too much room already.
