He has 6 or 7 CDs out and the guy ROCKS.

I found a CD and have not listened to if for a couple years - WOW he is awesome. Hard to explain - Peter Gabrial-ish I suppose.

I'm listening to Deep at the moment.

I saw Peter on the Deep tour in Boston in 1989/1990. He's a great performer.

You should check out Bauhaus' Mask, if you havent done so already. You're sure to like it.

I saw him in San Diego on the same tour. Cocteuau Twins opened for him. My biggest memory of the show, though, was this one goth guy who was huddled up on the stairs outside the show, scowling at the passers-by and scribbling away madly in what I can only assume was his horribly tortured book of personal poetry!

Such a walking (or sitting) stereotype!

Never understood why people feel they have to dress a certain way in order to listen to certain music. They all "rebel" in the exact same way.

Anyway, all I have of his now is the recent best of comp, "Birds". Sound quality is pretty good on that, brings back lots of memories!

Who hasn't heard of PM?

I have the "birds" best of collection Mark mentioned, it does have great sound for rock recordings. Also have individual albums:
-Deep
-Love Hysteria

I wouldn't say his solo music "rocks" since it is mostly dark introspective stuff.

Bauhaus could rock when needed, in a dark gothic sorta way:
-Third Uncle
-Terror Couple
-Dark Entries
-Flat Field
-Lagartija Nick
-Slice of Life
-She's in Parties
-etc etc

Ow, that's a tasty track!

Post Bauhaus I remember getting into Love & Rockets more than Peter.
But can never forget that cameo/intro in The Hunger.

I had downloaded a bunch of his albums from Emusic a long while back and bought Dust (which stunk, too different from his previous stuff) on CD. His stuff that he made for the Beggars Banquet label is great. Deep is easily my favorite out of them.

i love Bauhaus, but never got into Peter Murphy's solo stuff. "Deep" is an excellent album though, i think i'll put that on tonight. i also have "Holy Smoke" but it didn't catch me like "Deep" did, and never continued with his solo stuff.

Bauhaus on the other hand, what an amazing band. what i like about Bauhaus is that they can be dark, humourous, and playful at the same time, with a whole range of styles. listen to the list-happy "Scopes," the funny film-dialogue of "Party of the First Part," the weird storytelling "Departure," and "Exquisite Corpse," a totally weird, off the wall song that features several movements! and last but not least the hilarious dialog that appears after it. "...you'll be going to school and you wouldn't want you daddy anymore, would you darling..."

i agree with DA, Bauhaus could ROCK! i'll add more rockin' songs:
Double Dare (their best song IMHO)
Poisen Pen
In the Flat Field
St. Vitus Dance
Kick in the Eye
Antonin Artaud
Burning From the Inside
Dark Entires (i absolutely love this song)

Nope, your not the only one. Not a fan, but I know who he is.

I like Peter's stuff quite a bit. I was never a huge fan of bauhaus, but I did watch "The Hunger" Sunday night and always get a kick out of seeing bauhaus in that and watching Bowie watching bauhaus.

Actually, I like pretty much everything from the members of bauhaus post-bauhaus days, with the exception of Dalis Car (Peter Murphy and everyone from Japan except David Sylvian) and some of the Tones on Tail stuff.

I love Peter. His songwriting is stellar and his voice is amazing.
His first solo album "Should the World Fail to Fall Apart" is quite excellent for a debut. "Love Hysteria" is a beautiful record, sorely underrated on allmusic.com in my opinion.
"Deep" is the one that generates the most praise, but you'd be missing out if you thought that is the only cd of his worth owning.
I have been to every tour since 1992 (the Holy Smoke tour). Looking forward to his North American tour this spring/summer!
