Right now i have an audigy zs 2..not very happy with my setup(AT-A500 headphones)

I was a bit satisfied before until i started listening to my Nano with the KSC35

Well now, I am thinking I should upgrade, but I dont want to spend more than 200+(cost of selling A500's + ZS2 audigy)

Should I get an Xf-i and the A900? Major difference?

Please let me know how you would do this?

X-fi is considered a very good soundcard for analog use. The choice of cans is very unique to every listener and I suggest you give a try to as many models as you can. Some good ideas to start with might be Alessandro MS1/Grado SR-60 as they sound pretty good unamped.

If you are not spending your money to buy me things, then no, you are not spending your money correctly.

If you wan to be cheap as possible with the fewest items to buy, probably getting a soundcard with good analog outputs is a good idea. Otherwise, you would have to buy a headphone amp on top of the soundcard.
