Am I so bad in identifying sound quality?

Have to say that the IE80 is one hell of an IEM in my opinion.

Actually, it's really weird, I don't find them too laid back at all. I was a little worried about that, but no, these really sound good! Absolutely love these myself. The only thing I don't really love, I think, are the tips. It's not like they fall out, but they don't feel as securely gripped as my old RE-262 tips did. I don't think it's a fit issue per se, just another material that doesn't grip as good as the hifimans does. My father has my RE-262's so when I visit him next time I'll try to see if we can check them out. The foam ones were pretty bad to be honest, but the double flanged ones seems to fit me the best. I need to try the others too..

Yep, the double flanged, medium sized fits me the best.

Look into those large single flanges I had posted earlier on. The large double flanges fit me as well but not nearly as good as those large single flanges I bought from amazon. I'd avoid using comply tips period. You may very well end up breaking your IE80s as I did with my first pair of IE8s. I ended up ripping my right driver in half when pulling one of these bad boys off lol. Luckily I had a square trade warranty or I'd been screwed. Also the foam tips muffle the treble and amplify bass which is no good.

Well I used the double flanged large tips. So maybe the medium sized single flange tips would fit you best. I gave you links to the large ones. They should also have the medium sizes available. You'll just have to do a search.

I am glad you like it. You had a very good deal with that price. Personally I love the rich and elastic sound produced by the IE80. I can even feel the sound has improved (more smooth) after one week of use. I now use the IE80 extensively for long hrs in my office where it is quite and I just sit in my chair and listen to music while doing my work. A day pass by so quickly with the IE80 playing the music and a few cups of tea.
 
The bi-flg large tips works great for me. No discomfort from long hours of use. Have to agree on the foam tips and I never bother to try them on.

Oh right, the JVC ones. Yeah, I'll look into those, and the V-Moda tips also looked like they could be made out a better suited silicone material than the Senns tips..

IMO they are a clear upgrade over the IE8. No EQ needed a must for me. I'm just lazy that way and the fact that you shouldn't have to EQ $300.00+ IEMs/Headphones for them to just sound listenable. The IE8s are not listenable on most sources stock. Plus the IE80 is a tad more foward than the IE8 even with EQ and for me that little was exactly what I was looking for. The IE8 was just a hint too laid back for me and this has solved that completely. My FX700s are more likely to go on sale after I receive my Heir custom 8.As than my Senns are.

Thing is, I never even tried the IE8 or IE7. And I kind of agree, EQ:ing a $300 IEM feels wrong, even though I EQ all of my headphones. But there is a clear distinction between having to EQ and wanting to EQ.
 
So, you finally found an IEM you like better than your FX700?
 
I might have to buy one of those 75 ohm adaptors, because my old vintage amp seems to have some serious hissing issues with these IEMs. Almost no hissing (some hissing but very little in comparison to the IE80) with my D2k, HD25 and Pro 900. So I'm pretty convinced that it's output impedance is greater than 3-4 ohms. Out of my E11 these IEMs sounds delicious. Out of the E10 they sound glorious. Out of my amp, they hiss and the sound seems a bit funky. What gets me is that the other headphones doesn't hiss as much and doesn't sound funky, leaving me with the only real option that it might actually have to do with the output impedance.

And yes agreed about the "there is a clear distinction between having to EQ and wanting to EQ.", With IE7's i needed to EQ fro some more bass, and a not-so-flat sound, with the D2K's...i'm just wanting more bass although it has enoufgh punch !

The IE80's are a very punchy set of IEMs imo. My S4 has that "doof doof" going on, while the IE80's have that punchy, thick -- yet very fast -- bass that not only sounds but also is felt in your ears. Very good for EDM music, but also very versatile.
 
Of course, it's probably nothing compared to the 1XB's in terms of bass, but really - the IE80's deliver a very whole sound. Full, without leaving me needing anything more in particular. I use a bit of bass boost on the E11, but I have the bass response setting on the IEMs set to the lowest. I feel that the more crank it up, the more "doof doof" it becomes, and that's not necessarily what I want - so I leave it at the lowest and use the first step on the E11 instead. I could do otherwise, but on the go it seems more logic to me that I should crank the bass up on my source components instead of starting to haul up the screwdriver in the subway and.. LOL

Well for me the IE8's had bass, but due to its shape/form/fit it didn't give me that deep bass, unless i shoved it right in my ears + put double flange tips - either or, even after being pressed to my ears, they still didn't give the same bass response as the 1XB's lol

Last night I was watching almost 50 mins video of Beethoven's Violin Concerto played by Anne-Sophie Mutter and conducted by Herbert Karajan with the Denon D2000 plugged in my TV. I was totally surprised by the excellent sound from the headphones and really enjoyed it. The D2000 has the sound signature very similar to IE80.
 
Thanks to you guys for recommending the D2000. I can't be any more happier with this purchase.

Glad to hear you are enjoying them. I think the Denons sound signature is closer to the FX700 TBO but do share some traits with the IE80s. Its treble is definitely more on the harsh and aggressive side though when compared to the IE80.
