The first reviewer on that site seemed like he knew what he was talking about, abrasive as he was. I would skip them. I wouldn't imagine that you'll get too many first hand owners on this site.
If you're looking for ~$50 phones, go for the senn px100s or grado sr60s. Both great great phones at the pricerange, and I guarantee that they both have better sound quality than the Altec Lansings.
