anyone ever try an Alpha rotary switch? SR2921F-0112-19R0B-E9-S-W Alpha (Taiwan) Rotary Switches

Vishay CMF50 resistors are nice and small. building a shunt SA requires a bit more space vs. series and ladder.

should i take a punt at this? it's only 12 pos. though. i'm still trying to find a source state-side for a shorting 2 deck, 23 pos..

well i went ahead and ordered 2 of them. i would normally balk at only 12 clicks for "serious" listening, but i'm going to throw them in a Gainclone that i'm building for casual listening in our livingroom. i'll report back...

What sort of volume steps are you going to use?

I was thinking 2dB per step. If it's still too loud then the gain on the amp will need fixing. I mean, what's the point in throwing away nearly all the audio signal only to have it made back up again by a high gain amp?
