Vkamicht , i hope you find out that it's another cause and not the Grado's. I suffer from severe multiple chemical sensitivities and would hate to have the same type of problem. Allergic reactions are the pits.....hope you are feeling better soon.
Thats what I would suggest too. Well, I was thinking GP at first (over here, they are the ones who set the appointment with the specialists). They might be able to offer some solutions, and if those don't work, they'll probably recommend a dermatologist.
It's clear to be someone working in assembly or the packaging department had some Mesquite BBQ chips during his lunch break.
Seriously, I hope you're doing ok. Sounds like it's the wood, likely gases leeching out from the finish. Or maybe something foreign is in the pads? Perhaps try giving those pads a thorough wash?
Usually, in cases like that, you should be methodical.
Put the headphones in a hermetic bag after cleaning the alleged culprit. Wait a few days. That way you eliminate any possible contaminants coming from the Headphones. Make sure to separate the pads and put them in another bag, or try to wash them.
I had itchiness from Grado's pads once after a long period of storage. I washed the pads with liquid dish soap, rinsed thoroughly several times with lukewarm water and everything was fine afterwards.
