-And those new top of the line. We always ramble on about that "#¤@£ Sony and how they sacrifice sound for battery life. But how about the cheap sony discmen? I never see a review on them?! They have limited battery life and are probably able to withstand more punishment.

Has anyone had experience with cheap sony's? Thoughts please...

I don't believe that Sony is sacrificing sound for battery life...

Think of MD... The N707 (for example) runs off of ONE AA battery, and lasts for 40+ hours, and has a nice clean headphone out sound

Sony, I think are just pushing MD by making CD sound... erm, not so good

To answer your question though linnem, I myself haven't heard any cheap players... so I can't help...

Sorry

Is there a good player aivalable now (new one) with a good headphone out.

I have an 'old' Sony D-E305 and an iRiver ChromeX.
The Sony sound bad in comparison to the iRiver. But the iriver has only 4 hrs of playback on two 1800mAh rechargebles with regular audio CD's

So I am wondering if there are any PCDP's on the market right know with at least 10-15 hrs playback and sound good. The only other requerments are it plays on AA's and 10(or more) sec anti skip.

How about the d-e350, d-t20, d-t200 and the likes. How do those fair against older ones?
