He is really (really) good... but I think people on YouTube are giving him a bit too much credit saying he is equal to or better than Vai and other virtuosos. Sure he is incredible, but those songs weren't original... and I don't think you can compare what someone can play to what someone can write.

Awesome to see a blind person get so damn far though, inspirational even.

Hes a great player no doubt. Personally I prefer the traditional pieces rather than the pop, pop culture stuff in those videos. I don't think I'd run out and buy an album though.

Anyone else think his blindness is an advantage? I mean it makes it easier to feel /hear the guitar, and limits the distractions.

You've opened up a big ol' can of worms. Does a player have to be a master creator to be a virtuoso player? The stuff that Vai and other similar masters have come up with is no doubt mind boggling, but I respect the emotion of music over the technical genius. Feliciano was a heart and soul type of player (I'm not saying that Vai or others aren't) and his playing seems extremely passionate to me.

It seems that those with impairments such as blindness or deafness have some kind of advantage, but I wouldn't trade all the musical talent in the world for my eyesight, hearing, or even my sense of smell or taste.

did you hear how he busted out Eruption-like licks on Purple Haze before Eddie even got the idea? And how he copied Jimi's insane whammy dives with no whammy bar by just detuning using the keys - and bringing it right back up in tune? You KNOW he just made that stuff up in his head on how to make it happen after hearing Jimi! Good stuff!

Wow!! Impressive indeed.

IMHO Joe Satriani is the most versatile guitar player I've seen/heard. He can Play (and teach) All kinds of guitar styles (although he's known for his pop-rock instrumentals). I also enjoy his banjo and harmonica playing too, I saw some vids of him wailing on a mandolin too... and he can kind of sing.

I can't figure out how guys do that.... I saw Junior Brown play entire riffs on his low E, by wanking on the tuners!!! he stayed in time and in tune the whole time. Some parts of his playing sounded like a rubber-band.
