I'm looking for a new set of cans around $100. I need something that is good for all around meaning games, music, and movies. I've heard things about the HD555 and ATH-A500, how are they for all-around purposes?

So far the best I've heard at 100 Are Equation Audio RP-21 and Audio Technica ES7.

HD555 should be excellent. Warm sound with soundstage and good imaging goes well with gaming and music.

Quality post, sir. So how is the HD555 in comparison to the A500? I guess those are the two best options in my range? No other suggestions?

I would have to say either the MS1 if you want an open can, or the RP-21 if you want a closed can.
I have not heard the MS1, but I own the MS2i and love them, and they get a ton of praise here on the forums.
I do own the RP-21 and they sound better than I ever expected a $95 headphone to sound.

There's a used A700 (looks beautiful...) on the FS forum for under $100; I'm not associated with the seller.

If the MS1 is anything like the SR80, then I highly recommend against getting the MS1 for gaming and watching movies.

I dont have the 555, but I own the 595, compaired to my A500's the 595 are better. The senn are more detailed, better mids/highs, but I feel the A500 still have better soundstage and bass (though slightly more boomy then the 595). The A500 are also a lot easier to drive, I dont use an amp for my A500s, but do for the 595s. Music the 595 are superior, but for gaming and movies, I do feel the A500 have the edge due to their bass. Though the 595 are pretty good in gaming and movies too. I also feel the A500 are more comfortable then the 595, but the 595 are very comfortable cans also.

I swear I didn't pay this guy.

The A700's are great though!
