Last four Death albums: Human with Sean Reinert ( plays for Cynic now ) on drums, Individual Though Patterns and Symbolic with Gene Hoglan and Richard Christy in TSOP.

Brann Dailor of Mastodon has a unique playing style,on their early albums he is fantastic...

All Opeth albums with Martin Lopez.

Ellman with Todd Rundgren's Utopia
Vinnie Colaiuta in Karizma's "Document"
Leon Ndugu Chancler in George Duke's "Three originals"
Steve Gadd on Steely Dan's "Aja"
Tony Williams with Stanley Clarke and Miles
Trilok Gurtu
I don't care for Return to Forever much these days, but Lenny White is pretty cool.

Haha! That Jojo Mayer must be the man behind the cliché-ish drum'n'bass loop featured on every track of that genre

Here's a few jazz recordings that emphasize drumming:

Charly Antolini - In The Groove
Art Blakey - The Freedom Rider
Buddy Rich & Max Roach - Rich versus Roach
Max Roach - Survivors

I agree, Brann Dailor is fantastic. Mastodon's latest album had some epic drumming.

It's a non-album track I'm afraid, but if you want to hear some astonishing rock drumming please check out the following performance from Kris Myers. The entire track is brilliant, but if you're very impatient just flick to 5:13 for 40 seconds of superhuman drumming.

Umphrey's McGee - Wizard Burial Ground

I agree with SftD, Dave did a great job on that album.

Also any Dream Theater, or anything that Mike Portnoy is a part of: Liquid Tension Experiment, Neal Morse, Transatlantic.

Rush, Tool, August Burns Red, As I Lay Dying, All That Remains
