Can we start a thread where we can recommend to each other albums that we like?

Never mind whether the albums are reference recording quality or not, never mind the genres and so on.  As long as YOU LIKE it and care to recommend it, then please do recommend it.  It is the readers' choice to check it out for themselves or not.

If you care to qualify your recommendation, then do so, otherwise this is absolutely your choice and attach a coverart, if you can.

The only rule is to list the recording label, year and whether it is CD, Vinyl or SACD.

The Postal Service - Give Up (2003)

Love the electronic background music and intertwining of male and female lyrics.

A slightly moody album at times, with some uplifting hopeful moments scattered throughout.

I never get bored of listening to this album.

Three of my favorites from 2010:

Unitopia - Artificial.  Symphonic Prog-Rock from down under, and a concept album to boot!  (I'll blogwhore here and mention that I just posted a review on my music blog).

John McLaughlin & the 4th Dimension - To The One.  Strong guitar work from John with a solid band - it's only 40 minutes but it's a quality 40 minutes.

Eivind Aarset - Live Extracts.  Industrial/Ambient with some wicked guitar work.

Demon Days by Gorillaz(2004)-I love how this album is not particularly one genre, but a mix of many, and how each song is different from the rest on the album.

Still one of my all-time favorite live recordings...
(Jill Scott, Experience: Jill Scott 826+, CD, Hidden Beach, 2001)

Although not highly regarded as her best work, I love this album...
(Eryka Badu New Ameryka Part One: 4th World Order, CD, Motown, 2007)

I discovered this gem of a recording back in the early 90s...
(Robbie Robertson & The Red Road Ensemble Music for The Native Americans, CD, Capitol, 1994)

One of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time (the album that gave birth to Nasty Nas)...
(Main Source Breaking Atoms, CD, Wild Pitch, 1991)

Soothing.  Lyrical.  Never tiring...
(Sarah McLachlan Surfacing, CD, BMG, 1997)
