Would cutting the 20ft cable down and soldering a new plug violate the headphones warranty? Considering the cable is detachable i don't see why it would, but i just want to make sure.
 
Also, does anyone know how much a new cable from akg would cost?

You could just braid them instead of cutting it.  Or you can get an aftermarket cable, they aren't that expensive.

I would prefer not to braid or tie it up. Maybe i'm just looking for an excuse to use this fancy plug i have =P
