I bought my AKG Q701's about 5 years ago. They've been used (and somewhat abused) ever since. Just a couple days ago while I was gaming, the right ear-piece suddenly cut out. The left ear-piece also seemed to have greatly reduced sound. From what I've read online, it's likely a solder point that has gotten loose. However, I don't solder nor do I have the equipment to do so. I've emailed AKG about paying for a repair, but they haven't responded. So the options are to find someone local (Portland, OR) or do it online (several outfits at $50-80, including shipping).
I do have a pair of ATH-M50x's, but frankly, for gaming, I really really prefer the Q701's.
Any thoughts?
