Just thought I'd post this mini-review.

My AKG 240's basically fell apart after being sat on, and during along move. So I ended up trying out the Seinheiser HD 600's, and the Massdrop version of the AKG 240's the M220's.

Am I crazy for preferring the M220's to the HD 600's? There's something quite lively and neutral about the sound that is not hyped in an artificial way.

Glad to have these bad boys back. I also prefer the solid black color of the Massdrop M220's to the gold trim on the AKG 240's.

Nothing wrong with liking 240s, and the great thing is if you like them you can go explore and collect the old Monitor, Sextett, DF etc. :D
I really like 240 Sextett LP + Shure 1540 pads with donut dampening foam over sextett drivers, (on the baffle plate)

Thanks, those pads sound great. I'll check them out.

I have noticed that the M220's have upgraded the quality of the pleather pads, and the brutal head clamping my pair of AKG 240's had (purchased around 2006 I believe).
