AKG K812 HEADPHONES REVIEW Serial No 001106

Ah, my bad, but it could and still is a great one, thanks!

Problem is, these are pro division headphones and never were advertised as general consumer product. Marketing is poor and demo availability is even worse, however, I got lucky, because my local importer was that nice and open mind to offer such demo and I am very thankful for that.

No sarcasm intended. Agreeing with your assessment of the sorry release protocol employed by AKG.

From AKG marketing:

"When you take a look at the technology AKG has put into their K812 reference headphones, they start to sound like they were reverse-engineered from an alien spacecraft."

Yes, indeed. Thank you! Let's get Spielberg to make the movie.

While AKG kept their classic design, it is obvious that they spend need it time to create K812 differently as well, but if only they spend same time and money by using differ material and make them lighter.

Well, not much point to mention that again, as they will not listen anyway.

That's odd. HD700 and HD800 look more like the mothership.

The mothership seems to be the Sony Qualia, the geometry of the K812 earcup looks nearly stolen from there.

Brinkmanship
Brinkmanship (also brinksmanship) is the practice of pushing dangerous events to the brink of disaster in order to achieve the most advantageous outcome.

Wow - what a comprehensive review, thanks for taking the time to relate your critique here, I know I will return to it for reference.

I've just taken receipt of these cans and note your remarks on steep burn in time before the signature settles.

These are my first pair of AKG headphones I've owned and from a build and aesthetics point of view, I'm quite impressed, they certainly feel highly engineered with very high quality use of materials and build quality, bar the flimsy looking cable.  I also like the ease of driving these headphones, as so far the only listening I've done was amplified via Fiio E17, but I look forward to using my HFM EF-6 and Fostex HP-A8 shortly

Thank you for your kind words.

They sure do appreciate lots of burn in and better system.

I would say, compare them after each 50 hours and they should settle nicely around 300, let us know by then please.
