I have those cans and I like the sound. But the headband is not very comfortable. The bumps on the inside is just ridiculous.

I have 271S and those are very comfortable on my head.

Is there a way to replace/adjust/change the 801's headband?

There is a lot of materials and options, check the forum.
You can cut the bumps, or just add felt double sided glue in between the bumps.

That middle bump gets softer with use. Mine are comfortable now.
