I just noticed that AKG's top end earbud, the K319, is not available on their homepage and that it is listed on many webstores as being discontinued. In august AKG released a new version of the K313 and also the K318, with in-line microphone and volume control for iPhone (I suppose), but no replacement for the K319 was released. Too bad since it was the only AKG earbud that could compete with Sennheiser and Yuin earbuds...

I read this post(http://www.head-fi.org/t/454023/akg-k319-beats-pk2/15#post_8058850) and while very little in terms of actual evidence, maybe the K318 is a worthwhile replacement. The K319 was, AFAIK, good but not really that great. Like I said, don't think it is a stretch that the K318 may be near as good but probably with a bit more warmer closer to mainstream sound. The price difference may not to be a big deal. Market correction? Blox M2C $40 but almost as good as the last $180 TM5. Why not K318 at $40 near as good as the $100 K318. They were making a big profit margin on it. Maybe they decided to lower the margin of each piece and hope to sell more units at a lower price. 
 
Things is the K318 needs to be put through it's paces and see if it is a worthy successor.

I hope that the K318 can measure up to the K319. I have to admit that the K319 doesn't really reach up to the Yuin PK2, but it is still the best earbud that AKG had to offer.
 
I do not think that new automatically means better. The best sounding earbuds I have is the Aiwa HP-D9 (1990-1995), Sony MDR-E484 (1988-1995) and Sony MDR-E282 (1985-1990). My former favorite Audio Technica CM700TI now comes in fourth, and the Blox M2C fifth, while the PK2 is number six and the K319 seven...
 
Anyway, as meagre as the earbud market has been for the last 10 years after IEM's have become the focus for headphone makers, the earbud market was practically dead when Yuin introduced their line of earbuds, I'm still happy to see any new earbuds. The K319 was a bit overpriced. It should have been around $60-70, so the K318 might bring the same sound for a lower price.

now when u say that headphone makers gonna cry, but ya, it grows onyou and u get to know more about how they are like and their good points.

Believe it or not, if headphone industry continues on for centuries, then i am sure a 2512 year human would say any of our headphones at our time are similar...like...M50 close to Orpheus similar
